Waiting is no fun at all. I am sitting in the small café – not even 15 minutes off my place.
And I am sitting. And I am tapping my feet. And I am glancing at my watch for the thousandth time in the past ten minutes.
Okay…. that’s my own fault: Right now it is still 10 minutes until punctuality. Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen watch the stupidity of impatient persons – in other words: Me, myself and I who are always 15 to 20 minutes early.
Much to my dismay nothing is happening here.
The waitresses smile their fitted smiles revealing rows of white teeth. As a matter of course they are wearing all the same black uniforms with red stripes on the sleeves, black aprons with the name of the café written in a red font looking so not unique. I almost didn’t stifle my gigantic yawn.
Looking around I catch sight of the only other occupied table.
An old couple are holding hands. The woman sits closer to the window, her back turned towards me. She wears a long sleeved shirt coloured in blue. Her white-grey hair reaches her neck so that the white pearl necklace is still visible. Her tanned arms rest on the table streched towards her spouse who has his fingers foled in hers. His skin isn’t as tanned but it is not pale either. The arms belonged to this man who is sitting in my line of view. Just as his wife I guess he’s about 80 years old. He seemed a lot more casual than his wife with his blue, worn-out jeans and a brown and yellow strtped, short sleeved shirt. His facial features make him holding a kind, gentle expression which I would never reconsider when looking in his light-blue eyes hidden behind glasses with black and round frames. He has already lost the better part of his white hair.
Yeah. Boring. Boring Boring Boring….
I wish I had ordered a coffee to go because by now the boredom and normality is killing me. I let out a longing sigh.
Great. Now I don’t even have coffee to sip while waiting.
I stand up deciding that I would order one and head outside to wait there while hoping that there outside obersving is more interesting…. although…. Isn’t that..? Yes! No more coffee to go needed! Here comes my company….
